SUSTAINABILITY MUSEUM
DIVINE WATER, RECYCLED STONES AND GREEN LIVING - A TOUR THROUGH THE HISTORY OF SUSTAINABILITY AT THE VIENNA MUSEUM
The new Wien Museum not only boasts impressive architecture, but also an extensive permanent exhibition - which we look at from the exciting perspective of sustainability! What does the soil in Vienna tell us about land use since prehistoric times? And what does sealing mean today? People were already fighting against natural disasters in the Middle Ages and found astonishingly progressive measures with the recycling of building materials - the circular economy sends its regards! The beauty of the Donnerbrunnen fountain may belie the fact that clean drinking water for all citizens was a challenge for a long time, as was a functioning healthcare system. Fascinating city models in the museum tell of the priorities of urban development and the importance of green spaces to this day! Carriages, trains and cars, on the other hand, bring us to the important aspect of mobility. Our tour looks at sustainability in all its facets: ecology, economy and social aspects. But in the end, what does a 120-year-old folding bed have to do with a Foodora backpack?
